My Reviews
Our entire club enjoyed this book very much. It is always interesting to hear everyone's point of view and to which character they related best. Back of the Book unanimously recommends this book to other clubs.
Our group reached the conclusion that this was very fictional. The writing was somewhat choppy and disjointed. However, it was entertaining and had a happy ending :)
While we all agreed the book was witty and easy to read, it is not a life altering experience. All of us did agree that the book raised Tina Fey in our estimation. She is a brilliant career woman and very funny.
It was unanimous! All members of our club loved this book. While some had reservations about the possible religious connotations, all were pleasantly surprised. Christopher Moore does not attempt to sway anyone's religious beliefs with this novel.
Funny, inspiring, and a quick read. We laughed and we cried and all have a new idea of Jesus as a man. We believe that this book not only entertains but also opens up discussion of all levels and topics.
Back of the Book strongly recommends this novel to all book clubs.
Only the girl who chose the book and myself read the complete book. The rest of our members gave up about 1/3 of the way in. There was no flow and not enough background provided to finish the story. I would not recommend this to anyone or any other book club.
We are having a hard time figuring out how this book was in the top ten best sellers for 2011.
Our club split right down the middle on this one. Several members watch the series and really liked it; the rest of us - not so much. The pro side really liked the character and the issues he dealt with for his "dark passenger". The con side feel that Dexter is not God and therefore should not be allowed to determine who "bad people" are and rid the world of theme.
