My Reviews
Some of our book club members thought this was a wonderful book--frightening and realistic. Two or three of us thought though that it wasn't realistic. The room was way too small to be realistic. One of our club members measured her shed and didn't think it possible that all of that furniture could have been in a room so small. I believe that children speak in the way their parents speak, by example in most cases. The mother in this story was intelligent and well spoken yet the child's language seemed to be underdeveloped for the same intelligence and knowledge he displayed. I didn't like the book because of the inconsistencies although the premise is fascinating and frighteningly, it is happening often.
Each of us liked this book and had definite opinions about it. The discussion was revealing and in some cases difficult because of personal experiences. For some it changed viewpoints and reinforced them for others. It was sad but not dark or gloomy.
Term Limits is an easy to read political thriller, and everyone in my club gave it a thumbs up. It was written in 1997, but the political situations are even more like today\\\'s Washington scene than they were at the time of publication. There are probably more people now who think murder might be the only way to stop government corruption and waste of taxpayers\\\' money.
