My Reviews
She is a bit selfish. Meets ordinary and strange people as she travels nowhere in particular to just be on her own leaving husband and home behind.
A non-fiction book that reads like a novel. I learned so much about how close the Nazis came to the shores of Alabama and how it impacted the lives of the people living around Mobile at the time.
Started a little slow but picked up speed and kept me reading to the very end. I didn't want to put it down until I found the answers to my questions about the characters. We enjoyed discussing this book in our club.
Did he love her because she submitted to him? Why does he "Need" to make women submit to him? Could he find a wife and treat her with love and tenderness? Many questions run through your head while reading this. Can he allow her some freedom to have a life apart from him? He smothers her, he stalks her, yet he acts in some ways as though he cannot live without her because of his feelings of love toward her.
I could not read through my tears at points in the book. Lexi had such compassion for the people she loved.
I first read Hunger Games and immediately bought the next two books in the trilogy to see how everything turned out.
Part history, part romance, and it shows human frailty. Children who were sent out west on trains have stories to tell and I enjoyed reading this one.
Ikey Solomon may not be the man you want to know but his story grips and holds you until you find yourself on his side and have hopes that luck will get him to a safe place. He keeps fascinating you with his cunning ways, he thinks of everything, sometimes too late.
Loved the ending. Was pulling for lettie all along
I have loved all the books written by O'Reilly and this one did not disappoint. So very well researched. He did not write a religious book, but an Historical account of this world changing event.
Not John Grisham's best writing but enjoyable
