My Reviews
This book was very slow and when the "event" happened, I just didn't feel the emotion that should have been involved with such a tragedy.
I loved these books! I was drawn to the main character. It had such an interesting setting and concept. It had adventure and love. They were all quick reads. I can't wait to see the movie!
This book was just plain boring. I did not feel a connection to the main character at all. There was just too much description and not enough action for me until the last two chapters. Major Pettigrew came across to me as just a grumpy old man, except when he was around Mrs. Ali.
It was a little slow getting started but kept my interest. I wanted to know what happened to the missing girls and Larry. I feel this book could draw some good discussions with regards to race, ethics and morality.
I actually liked the book. It kept my interest throughout; however, it fell flat at the end. There are no discussion questions for this book so I would not recommend it as a good book for a book club .
"The Night Circus" was a very interesting concept. I enjoyed the book and was anxious to find out how it would end up yet the jumping between timelines became a little confusing. The "competition" didn't really seem like a true game to me as the contestents didn't really seem to understand it themselves. Overall, I liked the book. I liked the concept of a mysterious circus coming and going in the night and the magic element reminded me a little of Harry Potter.
Great book from start to finish! It was very emotional. Great discussion book! I would definitely recommend it for book clubs.
Intriguing - The characters, the narrator, the setting, the story. I loved it. Some people in my club complained it was too slow and couldn't get into it, but I was taken in immediately. I was drawn to the main character, her struggles and the relationships she had with the other characters. A great read!
I'm a big Tina Fey fan, so I was very excited to read this, and she did not disappoint! There were some laugh out loud moments and it was a nice change of pace from the last few dark and depressing books our club has read; however, I wouldn't recommend it as a book club read because it isn't much of a discussion book. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a laugh and wants a quick, light read.
A very interesting and scary concept. I felt the book was a little slow; however, I was interested to see how it ended so it was a fast read for me. The end was intense yet left me wondering what happened next.
