My Reviews
A powerful first novel, very much reminded me of other novels of southern tradition like To Kill A Mockingbird and Fried Green Tomatoes. Beautiful story of family and sacrifice
This book was beautifully written. Our book club members overall really enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery. " Just when you really think you have it all figured out" said one member, "the author shows you how wrong you are".
Interesting book but more like a textbook poorly written.
Wow! This book was a great read. You will love it if you’re into mysteries with plenty of psychological twists, ambiance and above all – suspense! Any book lover must read this because basically it\\\'s a book about books, writing books, reading books, book lovers... but that\\\'s just the back ground to it. In the novel there are continuous mentions of \\\"Wuthering Heights\\\", \\\"Jane Eyre\\\", \\\"Woman in White\\\", and so on. Each reference has a significance to the central plot. I felt truly drawn into this novel
“Our lives are so important to us that we tend to think the story of them begins with our birth. First there was nothing, then I was born...Yet that is not so. Human lives are not pieces of string that can be separated out from a knot of others and laid out straight. Families are webs. Impossible to touch one part of it without setting the rest vibrating. Impossible to understand one part without having a sense of the whole. - Vida Winter”

All the book club members present at this gathering were impressed with the book. Several thought it moved along rather slowly but they all agreed that the story was really interesting and informative.
Everyone in our Book club loved this book.
Everyone in the book club really liked this book. Comments like \\\" I was overwhelmed by their stories\\\" \\\" My eyes were really opened to how difficult it was to survive in North Korea\\\" \\\" I still can not understand why anyone would ever want to go back \\\" This book was so very informative and interesting. Our book club highly recommends it.
Our book club really enjoyed reading this book. Most people seem to know someone who was dealing with autism and felt it gave them a new understanding into what it is like. Many found that they could identify with one trait or another that Dan exhibited, which lead to great discussion. The book really was funny and we would all recommend reading it.
The opinion of this book by members of our book club was really varying. Some thought that parts moved along rather slowly. Some really liked certain aspects of the story. Everyone agreed that it was very well written but perhaps a little to long.
Our book club members enjoyed the book. Some said it was \\\"a page turner\\\". Lots of suspicion to live up to its name.
Our book club loved this book. We live in Minnesota and were pretty much oblivious to the actually facts about the brutality taking place in Mississippi. This book leaves you hanging with lots of unanswered questions and a real need to read the last book in this series.
Our book club really enjoyed this book. When you hear the name Benedict Arnold what comes to mind. Most of us knew nothing about him other than he was a traitor. This historic fiction gave us insight into the man his family and the times.
Oak Point Drive Bookclub found this book difficult to read at first because of the way the author constructed his sentences. Nevertheless they thought it very informative and interesting. It lead to great discussion and the realization of how important it was to identify our own need to understand that people are all the same but are very different in many ways
Great book about about 5 elderly friends who take a week long trip to Paris. The book is filled with new adventures, revelation of secrets, finding true love and happiness, and everything that makes the women in this book come to life for every readers
