The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

Dramatic, Interesting, Dark
I love the setting of this book. Ms. Winters is telling her story to be published to Margaret. Margaret gets caught up in the story and brings questions about her own birth. Ending is very surprisi

Great Book!! A little scarey at times, but suspenseful. I love the ending and everything was tied together. I loved the setting in England.

The Double Bind: A Novel by Chris Bohjalian

Interesting, Dramatic, Brilliant
Great Book with a surprise ending. The ending difinitely put a twist on the whole book. I like the way the characaters were developed.

Good book, I would recommend for discussion. Everyone had a different interpretation of the ending. Must read the whole book to get the "twist" at the end.

Good idea of things to do when you are around 50.

I loved the book and give me alot of ideas of things I need to do before I turned 50. Some people in the club that are over 50, did fine any interest in reading this book.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Brilliant, Insightful, Inspiring
Excellent book club discussion. Good themes and characters.

I enjoyed this book tremendously. It is good to compare life in the 30's to present day. Alot of excellent "life lessons" throughout the book. THe characters are very well developed. You fall in love with the simplicity of Scout and Gem.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

This is a beautifully written book about life as seen through the family dog's eyes - Enzo. Enzo is a wonderful soul and he is with this family through many trajedies. I cried and laughed alot during this book. I loved it.

Valley of the Dolls

A good read for book clubs. You gain an insight into the life styles of stars back in the 40's and 50's. Drugs, sex and alcohol was still a major problem. It definitely will hold your interest, but it is not a well written book. Great discussion on how women have come along way from the era of this book.

The Rainbow Comes and Goes

Very interesting way to portray the book. It was written from the emails between Son, Anderson Cooper, and his Mom, Gloria Vanderbilt. But it was very well written and the ending was so beautiful. I learned a lot about the early life of Gloria that was so sad. But everyone in book club enjoyed it.
