And the Mountains Echoed

The book was hard to follow as the author kept moving from one group of people to another. Chapter titles would have helped. The book provided lots of areas for conversation. The group enjoyed the book but were not satisfied with the ending. The impact of the story would have been just as effective with a happy ending.

The Silent Sister

Fun reading...lots of unexpected twists in the story line. Don't read the book summary as it spoils some of the unexpected turn of events.

While the group enjoyed the book overall; there were so many characters that it was difficult to keep them all straight. We plan to watch the movie in place of reading a book for next month and then discuss the differences between the book and movie.

The book was hard to put down. A wonderful reading experience and terrific for discussion. We spend almost two hours discussing this book. One club member sais she might read it again! All eleven the discussion questions were great; we didn't skip a single one.

The group enjoyed reading the book overall, however felt it might be too fairy tale like. We kept wainting for something bad to happen. The published questions led to good discussions.

We all enjoyed the book. it is definitely worth reading. The author did a terrific job of combining history with fiction. I wanted to read what would happen next.

No one in our group liked this book and we do not plan to read any of his other titles. The writing style left a lot to be desired. It was dark and weird and there was no joy in reading it.
