My Reviews

Been There, Done That by Carol Snow

Great book. Very enjoyable.

Greatly enjoyed this humorous, witty novel. Most everyone has known someone like those in the story.Makes you wonder, if given a chance, how would you do things differently? Laughed out loud several times, causing my kids to ask what it was about! I am looking forward to her second book.

Adventurous, Dramatic, Interesting
Beautifully written,captivating story

You will not be able to put this book down. Gruen weaves a beautiful tale with all the elements- intrigue, romance, suspense, history, and relationships. Highly recommended.

Unconvincing, Difficult, Confusing
Story of woman stuck "between two worlds" spanning 60 years.

Beautifully written. All but one of us really enjoyed this read. A different take on what happens after you die as in "The Lovely Bones" or "The Five People You Meet in Heaven". Enjoyed all the descrpitions of the 1920's.

The Brambles by Eliza Minot

Waste of time

Our December pick, this book was not well liked amongst us. The story of three siblings who's dying fathercomes East to be cared for by them. Family "secrets" (what a joke) are revealed and not in a good way. It started off strong but fell off sharply and never really went anywhere. Read "A Spot of Bother" by Mark Haddon for family dysfunction that's done quite well.

Fun, Inspiring, Optimistic
Very fun read!

Great book. Loved the story and the characters. There were zany twists throughtout to keep you entertained. With all of the surprises and fun there still is a great story about growth and change. Highly recommend this for a fun read. We also came to our meeting with a list of things we'd like to do in the next ten years and that was very enjoyable.

Epic, Romantic, Adventurous
loved it !!!!!!!!!

A beautifully described account of the building of the Taj Mahal. A little of everything: love story, action & adventure, family feuds. We had a GREAT themed meeting with indian food and dress. Lots to talk about. Very absorbing, well done.

Great book club selection.

Moloka'i: A Novel by Alan Brennert

Informative, Inspiring, Interesting
Moving Story

Great read. You might think the book would be depressing but it is actually a very rich and moving book filled with warmth. Happiness is found in the saddest of circumstances. The book is beautifully written and emotionally moving.
