My Reviews
I will read this book again and again. It reminds me of a time I'm grateful to have never lived in. I like to think that I have raised my daughters to be like Skeeter. Independent, thoughtful and compassionate.
I enjoyed the journey through the life changing events in the lives of the women in this book. This is the book that made me decide that a book club could be a fun thing to be a part of.
Abby (the author) is a former contestant on the popular tv program, The Biggest Loser.
Abby takes you through her heartwrenching story about losing her entire family in one fell swoop and then learning to pick up the pieces and moving on.
This is such a tender story. It makes you stop and take a look at how you'd like to raise your own children and to live your life to the fullest.
I found this book to be quite real and at times suspenseful. It's about a midwife who is forced to make a spilt second decision and ends up on trial for it. Near the end I couldn't put it down. Great book.
This book was so sweet. It took a little turn that surprised me, quite pleasantly. I simply loved this book. It was a quick, easy read and a heartwarming story.
I just love Esther! She is conflicted more often than not between her love of art and her religious upbringing.
Esther suffers so much throughout the book and I found myself wondering, How much would I be willing to endure/sacrifice for beliefs I was raised with?
Ms. Carners descriptions of the foods, the clothing, the cities, etc. make you feel as if you were there to see it, taste it and touch it yourself.
This is a book I will, undoubtedly read over and over again.
