My Reviews
Our group was divided- half loving the book and half hating it. However, we all agreed that it was incredibly well written.
The premise of the book wasn't that original, but it was definitely a page turner. if you are looking for a light read, this book is a must.
It is over 500 pages, but it is definitely a quick read. It made for a very good discussion.
This book was a quick read, and made for some interesting discussion.
I had low expectations for this book, because I didn't like The Passage. This book could not have been more different, and turned out to be one of my favorites so far. I was most impressed by the ending, which was so eloquently written.
This book reminded me a lot of the TV show. I wouldn't say it was a literary piece, but it was a good summer read.
This is not the kind of book I would typically pick up, but I loved it. I was impressed that it is the author's first book, and I am looking forward to her next one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it was interesting to learn about the history. The only issue is that a few of the scenes could be too graphic for some readers.
I think the problem was that everyone felt pretty indifferent to the characters. This book is definitely worth a read, but it is not ideal for book clubs.
I liked the concept for the book, but the way that it was structured was confusing. I think it would have been better if they pulled the other characters though in each of the chapters.
I think the strong point for the book was the character development. There were many layers to each of the characters, and these were revealed from different perspectives. This complexity made for some good discussion.
This book got mixed reviews from our group, because people didn\\\'t like the characters. While I agree most of them weren\\\'t that likable, I felt that they had a complexity that made it quite realistic.
It was beautifully written, and the story line was rich with complexity. One of the interesting things about the book was that it took place in the late 30\\\'s, which is a time period that it is not typically covered in novels.
The plot made for an interesting discussion, but the narration really took away from the book. It didn't leave room for interpretation, and the facts cited seemed forced.
Everyone agreed the book was a fun read, although some people were bothered by the format. I think this is the risk the writer took by being more experimental.
It was a suspenseful book, but it didn't offer a lot in the way of discussion. Most of our group thought it was a quick read, but thought the content itself was just okay.
It is not a subject matter I would normally be interested in, but it was beautifully written. I was particularly impressed by the character development.
There are a lot of twists in the plot, so the book was hard to out down. Although, it is not the kind of book I could reread.
