My Reviews
We've learned about Henry VIII's second wife- Anne Boleyn in school, but we've never learned about her sister- Mary.
Ms Gregory does a wonderful job of writing about life at court- the intrigues, the plots, pagentry.
Our book club all enjoyed this book- many doing more research on the characters fromt he novel. Only one of us had seen the movie, and as always thought the book was MUCH better.
Well written, with much to discuss-- enjoy!!
Thoroughly believable main character drives this novel of magic vs the reality we hold dear. The ideas coming from the story got our book club discussion into all manner of theological, magical, moral and cultural ideas.
We highly recommend this book (even those of us who generally stay away from the fantasy genre).
