My Reviews
Wonderfully written book that we all enjoyed. Not a common selection for Willa Cather, so it was interesting to read. Learned about her life.
Everyone in our book club enjoyed reading about the pickle girls that share more than just quilting with each other. Fun read.
The book is taken from her blog, so the writing is "blog" style. The story of her romance with "Marlboro Man" is funny and real. Everyone in our club enjoyed reading the book and were interested in her recipes and cookbooks. She has a funny sense of humor that connects with readers.
Our book club discussion went longer than usual with this book!! The opinion was shared that the book was so well written and interesting. The author took 10 years to write it, and it showed, with the result that her research was so careful and thorough. The story of Henrietta and her family was fascinating.
Fun, light reading. It was interesting to learn about Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series.
Great read for December. We learned so much about the times of the Bible and the characters come alive!
Just a fun, easy read about a bunch of Southern widows. Not great writing, but fun.
A classic that we all read years and years ago. Reading it now in our more \\\"mature\\\" years brings an all new perspective. The result was a very enjoyable discussion.
Everyone in our club read a different book in the Joe Pickett series. Two of our members grew up in Wyoming, so we enjoyed talking about the author\\\'s descriptive passages. Each of the books was exciting and a page turner. My selection, \\\"Open Season\\\" is the first in the series. Even though I did not appreciated the strong language and few crude references, I would give the book thumbs up for excitement.
Everyone in our club enjoyed this little book. We had a nice discussion about quilting, Christmas and families.
Everyone in our club enjoyed the adventures of these two society girls who left New York to teach in a one room schoolhouse in rural Colorado during the early 1900's.
A fun read for our Book Club. Everyone loved visiting the world of "Pride and Prejudice" again. J. D. James did a fantastic job of capturing Jane Austen's voice. We all enjoyed the murder mystery.
Loved this book! Normally I stay away from books with f-bombs--get sick of it. But, the novel never left it\'s moral center. Great writing, great story and unforgettable, strong characters.
First book in a two book series. "All Clear" is the 2nd. Winner of the Nebula award. I really got caught up in the story of these time-traveling historians trapped in the London Blitz of WWII. At times I felt the story could have been condensed into one novel, but the ending made it all worth while.
2nd book in a two book series that begins with "Blackout". I really got caught up in the story of these time-traveling historians who where trapped in London during the Blitz of WWII.
I liked it, but at times I felt I was drowning in all the Henry\'s, Richard\'s & Elizabeth\'s. It was hard for me to keep them all straight!
Wonderfully written story based on the life of John Brown, the abolitionist.
Our book club really enjoyed talking about the author's adventures searching for the Snow Leopard. Our discussion delved into life's journey and finding what you are searching for, but the more important question--what if you don't find it? Interesting discussion.
Being a birder myself, this book called to me. The first half was difficult to read as Adrian descended into an abyss, but I described the book as optimistic because of the second half. It ended with a lot of hope.
I really like her writing style. The relationship between the sisters felt real to me. I have had drug addiction in my family, and this book helped me to understand a bit more about addiction.
