My Reviews
We have read so much regarding the Holocaust - this book shows Hitler's rise to power and events leading up to the decimation of countless innocent people. The facts were all there but no one wanted to or couldn't believe what was happening to their neighbors, their friends and relatives. America's Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Dodd, could not convince President Roosevelt of the dangerous but subtle events occurring in modern, prosperous Germany. I highly recommend this for high school reading material.
Poorly written, repetitive and boring. I kept waiting for the plot to go somewhere - didn't happen. This book might appeal to a young 20-something with not much education and/or someone not well read.
Loved this book. Halfway through, the story does a complete about face I never expected. Then another surprise. It is a great character study - the shrinks would have a field day with this book.
Wonderful adventure of strong friendship and love following a granddaughter\\\'s quest to discover her ancestors\' missionary life in India. The story weaves the lives of then with present day. The scenery & the personalities of the locals are so real, I felt I was actually in India.
Great for any book club. Strong, strong characters. Love & trust, morals and faith are only a few of the thoughts that kept me up reading all night. I laughed & cried at the same time. Can't wait for the sequel.
