My Reviews
Too down for my taste. I kept wanting to like these people but could not...
Light and Fun!
This book made me walk in a refugees shoes and I learned...
Violent but outweighed by courage and compassion. Sympathetic characters.
Thoughtful well written book about being a black maid in the 60's. Civil Rights movement from the point of view of "the help".
I expected more from Ann Rice. It seemed she just dashed off a bunch of words. Unconvincing story...Yucky.
This book was so inspirational. Randy Pausch lived his life with such joy. He found a way to make his last days meaningful. His ability to live with a fatal diagnosis with gratitude (thankful that he had the time to say goodbye) and love for his family gave me so much to think about. I thought the book would be sad and tearful but it was so full of passion and fun!
The descriptive prose of Kinsolver has me addicted to her storytelling. She has pulled me into the life of Della Robia and the Appalachian Mountains she calls home.
Interesting story but developed slowly.
Heart wrenching but hopeful book about a daughter who cares for her Mom at end of life. She gave up her life to make her mother comfortable and to avoid a nursing home. She found the experience a gift to herself as she learned who her mother was and became close to her brother and family in a touching, revealing story.
