My Reviews
I loved this book and the one thing that kept coming back to me while reading this story is why hadn't I been taught about this part of WWII in any of my social studies or American history classes in school. I knew of the Japenese Internment camps, but only what I had seen in movies. This is the first book I have read on the subject and even though the book is a work of fiction it really made me want to dig deeper and learn more about the subject. The story is an inspiring look at love, relationship and a period of time in our country that isnt really discussed very much. Our book clud unanimously loved this book.
Though the writing in this book is very good, the story is awful. It is so disjointed and the timeline so strange I honestly can't tell you what the story is about. I can make an educated guess and probably be close, but truly it was just a confusing jumble of very short thoughts. I think the premise of the story was very good, the execution is what failed. We read this book as a club and everyone was excited to read it. Everyone hated it. Sad.
