My Reviews
Good book, very much a page turner. I thought the author could have done much more to develop the characters and delve into the Jewish/Christian tensions. In some ways it seems rather a superficial look at historic Venice, the characters personalities and a story that is very complicated yet lightly treated.
An engaging book, some mystery, great character development and story.
Love the character development, the adventure and the imagination of this epic story. Not just for the male reader. Anyone who loves Anne McCaffrey will love this.
This book generated more talk on various topics, relationships, addiction, love, creativity, mental health, women's roles in society than many we have read. We liked it!
This was one of our groups favorite reads!
Everyone in our group really liked this book. Living as we do in the area in which this book takes place made it especially poignant. The characters were very well developed introverts which makes many contemporary readers uncomfortable. It was a slow paced book about a time and place when people lived in a slower, more deliberate way. The author did a fantastic job of making the reader understand and feel how disconcerting anything but the change of seasons can be to people who live isolated from city life, in the solitude of nature.
