My Reviews
I thought the novel was well written and it kept the reader's interest. The novel was also historically correct in the political events that were happening in the time of Jesus. Finally, I liked the way Rice developed the characters throughout the novel.
I found the novel very entertaing and it kept my interest. The novel wasn't my favorite that our book club has read but I'm glad that we read it. I wasn't aware about all of the going-ons behind the scenes in the circus, but you have to realize it is a work of fiction.
I found the novel very eye-opening on how the homeless live their daily life. The charaters were well developed and it was hard for me to put the book down because there was always the question of what was going to be their next adenture.
I would not recommend this book to anyone. It was too disheartening because none of the characters had any redeeeming qualities about them and they were hard to identify with.
It took me awhile to get into the novel and the whole premise of the story was very predictable. Also, the main character was hard to relate to. She also seemed to be overly obsessed with sex.
A very thought provoking novel. The novel gives a very different idea about the very nature of God and the Trinity. You have to get the idea that this is fiction and it is just a story about one man's journey into finding God after a life-changing event.
It was very spiritual and showed the grace of God. I also liked hearing the two sides of the story one of Ron Hall and and the other of Denver Moore.
If you like mysteries then this book is for you, since I'm not a mystery fan I was bored to death.
I guess the Woodruffs wrote the book because they had a well known name since he was a reporter for abc news, but what happened to him has happened to many of our young servicemen and women. It was very sad what happened to him, but at least he had a recovery where so many of our enlisted men and women have died serving our country. The novel skips around a lot which was also a bit confusing.
I thought this novel had a riveting message to all believers of Christ to how important it is to the get the message of Christ's Love to all nations. Brother Yun took this to heart and did just that to the people of China and he suffered greatly because of it.
A 50 something widow seeks to move on with her life after the death of her husband. She starts a new life in a different state and makes new friends with people she comes into contact with.
It's the story of one woman's journey into early onset alszimers disease and how it affects her whole family. I have to say it was very well written on a very sad and most difficult disease that anyone should have to go through.
It just wasn't my cup of tea. I appreciate the fact that they went over to an impoverished country and built the schools, but their story could have been told in a much more interesting way.
Since mysteries aren't my thing i found the novel boring and I finally started skimming through it so I may have missed some relevant parts, but being in a book club makes a person pick up a book that you may not read otherwise.
We had varying opinions about this book. I found the book to be a little slow and boring for my taste.
I can say this book wasn't one of my favorites and I wouldn't have given it a chance if I wasn't in a book club. It was a easy read though and we did have a fun discussion with it.
Over all most people liked the book. It was very interesting learning about the culture of women in China and the tradition of foot-binding.
The novel "Half Broke Horses" was very interesting depicting how life was back in the olden days living on a ranch in Arizona.
This novel left me with the question, what was the message that the author wanted to convey to her readers?. I emphasize that I wouldn't reccommend to anyone. It was a complete waste of time.
I won't say it was my favorite book, but it kept my interest., and we had a good discussion with it.
