If you like puns and literary humor this author is for you. These books are campy, smart and fun. If you are well read the layers of humor will be endless, if not you can still enjoy the imaginative alternate reality Jasper Fforde creates, where cheese is smuggled like drugs and pet dodo birds brought back from extinction are the norm. I have read every book in this series as well as the nursery crime books. I LOVE this author.

I read this on my own and wish I had read this with my book club. There is so much symbolism and metaphor and meat in this book as well as a gripping plot. While this was a relatively long and challenging novel, I flew though it. Neil Gaiman is fantastic as usual
