My Reviews
Out of the four of us who read it, three liked it, but I did not. They all agreed that it took a long time to get hooked. I read 100 pages and then put it down.
This book talks about how we should all try to develop a growth mindset (as opposed to a fixed mindst) in ourselves and help inspire it in our kids. A great topic and way of thinking. It could have been shorter... Got the point without all the examples, so you could skim some sections.
It was a bit slow in the beginning, but after I read the first 75 pages or so, I became really interested in the characters. Also, because I know that generation that grew up in the 70's/ 80's and I know NYC, it made it more interesting. Well written, beautiful sentences.
Some likable characters, dramatic story and it poses some interesting moral questions.
Ok, so Saunders has a cool writing style... I'll give him that. But is that enough reason to spend my limited leisure time reading one story after another that just made me feel icky... And with no purpose or redeeming qualities? No characters to like and full of trash talk? Yucky!
It\'s an interesting book, with interesting characters. But biggest complaint is how long it is... not quite sure it was worth it.
