The Matchmakers of Minnow Bay

While the bulk of the story takes place in a snowy and frozen Wisconsin, it still made a refreshing summer read. There's no great mysteries inside, you pretty know how it is going to end about 30 pages in, but the journey was still fun and entertaining.

Lily is an artist down on her luck, with no money, no apartment, no career prospects, no friends who will offer to lend a hand and has just discovered that her one night stand in Las Vegas ten years ago that ended in an overnight marriage, has never been annulled. I know, you already can picture the story line too. But Lily has much to learn about human behavior and human nature. Even though her friendships from Chicago prove to be shallow, the author gave them depth. I loved the characters in Minnow Bay and longed to book at week at the B&B just to enjoy their hospitality and small town charm.

Between the pages of this story, Lily learns to believe in herself, the meaning of true friends and that sometimes the heart remembers your first love long after the mind has forgotten. Definitely not a sappy romance story - just a simple story of living with your eyes open.
