My Reviews
A great read! Interesting and informative. I couldn't put it down.
This was a fun, easy read. Reminded me of some of the Western shows I watched on TV in the 60's.
I enjoyed the story and didn\\\'t want it to end. I loved the way the writer described her characters, the landscapes, everything! Even though the story was somewhat predictable, I was surprised that I was immediately taken away by the storyline. I fully enjoyed it. A great beach read!
It captured my interest in the first few pages. Great read. Excellent for discussion within book groups. Loved it!
Our group struggled with the "old English". There were words that we didn't know the meaning of and the dictionary had no explanation of what the words mean.
It was a quick read. Beryl Markham had an unconventional upbringing. Abandoned by her mother she was left with her horse loving father in all but deserted area of Kenya. She was left to roam the countryside without adult supervision and learned many things from the Kipsigis tribe who shared her father's estate.. Her love of horses led to her being a horse trainer, which was a rare profession for women back in those days. Beryl was known best as the first woman ever to fly solo from England to North America, though this is a surprisingly small part of the book.
Boring, boring a story that goes nowhere!!
