My Reviews
I enjoyed the book. I loved the story when it was being told by Oskar. His perception of life and the world around him is amazing. I thought that grandparents story was a bit confusing. At times it was difficult to follow what character was speaking because of the authors style. But it didn't take long to catch on. It was a very fast read. I may have enjoyed it more than some being a teacher who works with Autistic children. I saw an array of my students neatly tucked into Oskar. Eye opening ending.
I found this book difficult to follow at times. It took a bit of getting used to when the voice switched from one character to the other. The "confusion" added to the feeling of what it might be like to be in Kitty or Esme's head. At times, leaving the reader almost dizzy! The story line between Iris and Alex was at best, odd. The story had great possibilities, but the ending was very much a let down for me. I think I wanted more closure. The ending seemed to come from nowhere and pounce on the reader.
This book was okay. It read quickly once I got into it. I didn\\\\\\\'t feel that usual pull I feel when I am reading. I didn\\\\\\\'t have the need to stay up reading because I needed to know what came next. It was slow to get started and long to finish. I also was not a fan of the too often used vulgar language.
