My Reviews
Book Club members liked the book, found it different from other holocaust accounts, and very real.
An amazing life coupled with an excellent snapshot of the times. The book is well-written and easy to read.
Largest turnout ever for our club. One said, \"Best book I ever read\\\" Everyone loved it. How many authors can make you both laugh and cry? It\\\'s a wonderful read and much to discuss.
An amazing life. We wereall glad to have read it though some of us were put off initially by the size of the book. There was so much to talk about that we exceeded our usual time.
The kind of book you might never read without the motivation of a book club--a book you will never forget and always be grateful you read.
Amazingly researched and written, very interesting but not an entertaining read. Didn't produce much of a discussion. Was passed on by several members but considered worthwhile by those who read it.
Most found it interesting; many were really glad about reading it, but a few couldn\'t relate to it. It did produce a good discussion and an interest in rereading RLS\\\'s books.
Not easy reading because of the way it's organized but well worth the time spent to read it.
Most members found the book to be thought-provoking and very interesting. It\'s beautifully written and a new way to think of one of history\\\'s most brilliant scientists.
Members evenly split between fascinating and boring. I thought it was fabulous. Very glad I read it.
Everyone felt they got a bit of insight into the man. Had not expected this to be so timely (chose it in March) but all were glad to have read it and it made a good discussion.
Should be required reading.
Interesting biography of a Southern woman who kept a diary for 41 years, through the Civil War plus the years before and after. Very readable and worth your time.
So much depth in this book. Several members would like to read it again. Once is really not enough.
Not an enjoyable read but most were glad to have read it. Offers a lot of insight into how the Iraq war has affected the military personnel both in Iraq and at home. Very worthwhile.
A page-turner with really unusual but well-defined characters. A fun read.
Many interesting topics incorporated into the plot. Everybody liked this book but it didn't produce much of a discussion.c
Not great writing but an excellent story.
Interesting and informative but not a great read. Glad we read it but couldn't be enthusiastic about recommending it.
Learned a lot about the operation of the court and the amazing details of her life. Fascinating book..
fun but rather silly
Members had high praise for the book and the discussion was good.
So good that the book club barely had anythingelse to say about it. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Some didn't read the book, but all those who read it found it very interesting and were glad they had read it.
Describes a large segment of our society with much insight. Did not realize how pervasive this problem is. Very helpful to hear about the problems of working-class whit people. The book is also entertaining and so well-written that it's a pleasure to read.
