My Reviews
John Grogan did a wonderful job of putting into words the way an animal can slowly work its way into your heart, and become a real member of your family....this book will make you laugh out loud...and will make you cry...but in the end, you will agree that it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!
I felt that this story line had great potential and any one of numerous ideas could have been more deeply followed...for such a complex situation, there was not enough detail into exploring the depth of the characters.
Jodi Picoult can grab your attention from the opening page. This story is so true to life, and working in the transplant field, it has caused some very heart wrenching discussions in our office....I love the unexpected twists and turns in Picoult's books!
This is a wonderful age-old story of friendship, betrayal, family loyalty, etc. woven into a background that gives the reader a new insight into the struggle of the Afghanistan people and a new understanding of the way of life that has been lost to so many. "Religious" wars have been a part of history for so long...this author did an outstanding job of weaving a beautiful story into a current historical backdrop. It is one of my favorite books I have ever read....I will reread it, hopefully more than once in my lifetime!
