My Reviews
This was a relatable and easy to read novel. It wasn't especially exciting or memorable, but if you are a woman who is raising / has raised kids while trying to balance a marriage, friendship and work life, you will likely identify with the main character in this book.
Though not the best book I have read, it is worthwhile. I didn\'t find much of this book completely engaging; the writing often seemed mediocre and confusing. However, the subject matter was interesting and insightful. The ending was very moving, and this book provided a lot to talk about at our meeting.
A beautifully written novel. Very well developed characters, compelling story, and imaginative telling of the subject matter. I loved the often comic voice of the main character, Callie/Cal. This book inspires a lot of thought about the spectrum of human sexuality, and its depth provides much opportunity for conversation within a book club.
I didn't love this book; certainly not a great literary work. That said, it was an interesting, though harrowing, account of survival which sparked conversation at our book club meeting.
