Slow, Informative, Epic

Though this won the Nobel Prize, most of us felt it could have benefited from some serious editing! It was so long, and unlike other long books we\\\'ve read -- it seems even longer than it is. One of our members read it for the first time when she was in her early twenties and I think it could be a much different book for someone of that age, but from the late 50\\\'s/early 60\\\'s of our members, the main character seems to spend too little time enjoying what she has. One of the central characters even tells Kristin that she only loves her husband when she can\\\'t have him - so the love of her life aspect is dubious at best.

A Good Writer is Hard to Find

Though her stories often have that negative twist, which caused some book club members to compare her stories to Stephen King, Flannery O\\\'Connor\\\'s writing is genius.
