My Reviews
This book is a spiritual journey of a woman. Easily understood and, at once, wise without taking herself too seriously, the author provides a description of her travels.
Written as a collection of letters, the book tells the story of Jasmine, a physician who has lost her daughter in an accident. Sometimes a bit fantastic, but overall interesting. Some members of our club did feel disconnected from the protagonist and others felt that the letters format was not enjoyable. I disagreed.
I think that every person in our clb had a diferent perspective of the book, but al enjoyed it very much. Interesting how a book can inspire sympathy, empathy, anger, pity, and embarassment
The story is about four sisters negotiating their way through life with the influences of both American culture and immigrant parents. The story explores their relationships between themselves, their parents their mates, and the outside world.
