Stone Heart: A Novel of Sacajawea by Diane Glancy
This book generated a very thoughtful discussion.
This book club is for college bound high school students. They all said they found this book challenging to read but it generated one of our best discussions.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Adventurous, Interesting, Brilliant
Narrative ok but slow. Only one fully developed human character. Themes hard to care about. What happened?A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
Informative, Dramatic, Insightful
Despite some small misses, Hosseini is a master storyteller. Lots to talk about.Suggestion: Read with The Kite Runner and discuss the author's successful characterization (or not) of male vs. female characters.
Seduction of Water (Ballantine Reader's Circle) by Carol Goodman
