This was a fun book. The concept is unique and makes you think about what you would think about yourself if you lost your memory of the last ten years.
Well written with lots of twists and turns that keeps you turning pages. The ending is abrupt but its well worth the ride.
This was a perfect book for January when we pick an easy Christmas read. This book was a quick read and laugh out loud funny with many memorable characters. Gives a glimpse as to what it was like growing up in 1964.
While the writing is not as polished or insightful as some ghostwritten bios out there, it is written in the honest and unvarnished voice of a kid from Texas who grows up to be a comedy star despite both her parents being alcoholics.
We enjoyed discussing this classic story with so many great lines and advice. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”
I could not put this book down. Told from two perspectives of life on a tobacco plantation in the late 1700s. Excellent first book. Excited that she wrote a sequel.
Although there were parts of this book that were unbelievable and far fetched we had quite the lively conversations about how clever this book was. It's a page turner, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
