My Reviews
This is a great quick read. One that helps to confirm GOD's promises and offers us hope and meaning. I could not hep being just a bit annoyed by the parent's the parents for some of the decisions they made or did not make, but then wonder if the outcome would have been different or did GOD mean to use this little boy regardless of how his parents chose to deal with his illness.
A small collection of well written short stores of life in Africa told by children. These stories take us out of the newspaper or documentaries and places the reader in the life of the child telling his/her story. For those of us who are not personally familiar with life in countries being torn apart from the inside either through abject poverty or civil unrest these stories are sobering.
I really enjoyed this book. From the way it began to the journey that it took you on. Trying to figure out why the boy was in the suitcase and what Nina would do with him in the end only to get to the end and have to ask, what! are you kidding me?
This book was a bit difficult for me to read not because the topic was boring or difficult. What got me was the main character. Sadly it is base on true facts and can not be disputed. Most women and mothers especially will find this to be the case. That a women who accomplished so much could have done so at the expense of her children and her self respect.
O really enjoyed reading this book and hope that she will write a follow at some point. Her journey show that the bums and bruises we face can be used to catapult you in life rather than as an obstacle. She was able to make learning experiences where most would not and they have served her well.
