My Reviews
Pickard engages the reader with a little of everything from love everlasting to murder without remorse. Good and evil co-exist in a small town in Kansas continuing from one time period to the next. The protagonists’ lives intertwine in a story of deception and loss of innocence. Whether you believe in divine or supernatural intervention or not you will find yourself questioning events as they unfold joining the characters again and again. Can the truth remain buried for long? Perhaps only the Virgin of Small Plains has the answer.
It was a marginal read with characters you will not love or hate. The shifts in points of view did not enhance the story or change my point of view about the characters. Our club enjoyed a good discussion however I would only recommend this book to someone who wished just a light book to read in between a true mystery.
It was an interesting book with a combined fantasy/mystery theme. The group had an interesting discussion with most enjoying the mystery aspect of the book.
