Interesting, Inspiring, Dramatic
Don't pity her - admire her

Jeannette Walls' memoir is stunning! As she tells the sometimes funny, sometimes tragic, sometimes infuriating story of her life you can't help but notice she is not trying to get sympathy, she is just telling her life as it was.

Moloka'i: A Novel by Alan Brennert

Informative, Inspiring, Interesting
The story captivates.

Moloka'i is a wonderful book set in what most people consider a beautiful part of the world. The contrast of the beauty of Hawai'i and the darkness of leprosy draws you in to this book. I loved Rachel and was honored to see her life unfold. **NOTE** The discussion questions in the back of the book contain a spoiler. Do not read them if you prefer to let the book unfold first.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

Incredible story of love!

Redeeming Love is absolutely stunning! It is the retelling of a Old Testament story, however, don't think for one moment that it's dry or boring. This is the story of a man's love for a woman, a man's love of his God, and God's love for us all. You will not be able to put this book down and you will never forget Angel or Michael.

Marley and Me by John Grogan

Fun, Adventurous, Inspiring
Heartwarming, funny, lighthearted

Anyone who's had a big, bumbling dog (or knows one) will love this book. I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. Grogan captures the bond between humans and the dogs that own them. If you want a feel good book, this is the one to pick up.

The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls

Captivating

This was a fantastic book. As tragic as some parts can seem, it is Jeannette's life and she isn't telling this to get sympathy, she's just telling it like it was. Wonderful discussion book.

Best book of the year

I absolutely loved this book. And I absolutely DID NOT want to read it when it was chosen as my book club's pick. What a pleasant surprise this was. The book isn't written in the normal writing style. It is written as letters or telegrams between the main characters. You will fall in love with the characters and the island of Guernsey. I also highly recommend the audio edition of this book. Absolutely delightful! Different characters are voiced by different speakers which makes the format of the book even more enjoyable.
