My Reviews
I highly recommend this book for book clubs and we had a GREAT discussion.
This true story of Ken Perenyi and how he pulled off being able to imitate famous artists\\\\\\\' works was extremely intriguing. I learned a ton of information about art and I think Ken\\\\\\\'s talents and skills were obviously off the charts to be able to do what he did!!
I learned so much about the WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) during World War II which I was not aware of before reading this book. They did not get the recognition they deserved in my opinion!
I was totally astounded that this occurred in the USA many years ago. My heart goes out to those children who were "orphaned" and put to work and sometimes brutally mistreated. I basically could not put the book down once I started it, as I was looking and hoping for those nuggets of goodness that may have helped those children survive a life that seemed way beyond unkind most of the time.
I did not realize that children were put into orphanages when their parent's could not provide for them. It was a telling story form an orphan's point of view and his mother's dilemmas.
This was an interesting book which really gave me a new perspective on Time.... & what would the world be like if we actually did not have clocks (or other time pieces) and just used the natural rythmns of the Earth to guide us through everything during our days and nights??
This book was outstanding! We were even able to get feedback from the author, Catherine Ryan Hyde, who helped us get an even deeper understanding of the characters! I would highly recommend it as a very discussable interesting story line!
