Gripping, heart-wrenching, timely, this book raises enormous moral and legal issues that challenge the reader. Our discussion was lively and deep. This author is excellent in letting the story tell itself without undue interference.

This was a wonderful book. Different than my "normal" reads. I loved the characters (pretty much all of them) and genuinely cared about what happened to them. The humor was subtle but I still laughed aloud several times. Ove & his wife's marriage was so unlikely and so amazing. Parveneh is a whirlwind in a tiny, purposeful body.

Read this! You won't be sorry. I cannot wait to read Mr Backman's second book, which I just purchased.
