Learned a lot about Sherlock Holmes and loved the intrigue
The characters were interesting. Loved the intros to the chapters relating them to knitting processes. So sad at the end. We were all disappointed.
Man's book with references to fishing, hunting, airplanes, etc. End of the world and not many people survived. Writing style made it very difficult to get into the book and follow along. Didn't get interesting until the last third of the book
Our group gave this book a 4 out of 5. The author's writing style was excellent and her fact finding wonderful, but we found the story very sad. Some of us had to go to the end to make sure there was a happy ending.
We found the book confusing with too many characters, too much unnecessary description, and too many stories that made it difficult to follow. One-third of the group didn't finish the book. However, many found the author's earlier books better reads.
Made for a gripping discussion.
We found the main character self-absorbed and uninteresting. Interest didn't pick up till half way through the book when letters from an ancestor were read.
We felt the book was informative, however, at times unrealistic and hard to believe, i.e. mental telepathy, etc. Great insight into the Harvard mentality
Excellent book. Learned a lot about many different topics.
We liked the story but felt there were too many characters and it was difficult to follow all of their stories. Great concept and surprise ending.
We found the book to be a page turner and suspenseful. We can't wait to read more books by this author.
This book was very informative about the life of Charles Lindberg's wife and her struggles to maintain a happy marriage. We needed to recognize when this happened and that there was no women's lib at the timel.
We discussed the results of adoption and the interesting descriptions of all of the flowers
Not a great Grisham book. Too much time spent on a cause and not enough on the story line.
Loved this story but as more and more disasters occurred we realized the story couldn't be true. That was disappointing but the story was inspirational and beautiful anyway
This book enlightened me to the horror of orphans during this period in history. It was sad to see the unfavorable conditions they were raised in through no fault of themselves. I would recommend this book to all so that something like this never happens again.
This book opened up the world of nursing in different hospital settings. It was very enlightening.
Our members felt that this book was not up to Danielle Steele's standards and was poorly written
Our discussion of this book was so enthusiastic that members were talking over themselves to be heard. This book was a definite read for all
Such a twist turner filled with suspense
