My Reviews
Really a beautifully written story and one your group will find lots to discuss,
If your group read The Help, this is even better. So many discussable topics and heartbreaking story of slavery in 1800's.
Really wonderful story. Hosseini has a beautiful way of telling multiple stories into one. Heartbreakingly wonderful.
Really odd book set in the depression. Didn't like the character, didn't like the way the story was told, really not interesting.
Haunting novel told to the dead sister from the sister left living. Good read, but not much to discuss.
I really loved this book, but not everyone in the club did. Because each chapter is a story in itself with interactions around the core character it can be confusing with all the new characters. But the stories are each quite enjoyable.
Great choice for a book club. A definite page-turner.
Really, not one that your book club needs to read. Too many other wonderfully engaging books out there. Save the smut for your own time.
Not as dramatic as some of her other novels, but still and interesting read with much to discuss.
Lots to discuss here. Really inspiring life and excellently researched.
Really a beautiful story. A very quick read!
A novel based on facts and real people. Truly inspiring and shows the importance of reading! Lots to discuss!
This was a slow read and over filled with information, but all in all I was glad I read it to the end. Very discussable, but may not appeal to all.
We could have discussed this book ALL DAY. So much to talk about. Epic historical story. Just really wonderful. Add it to your list now!
You will certainly look at people with disabilities differently.
A really engaging story told from Hazel's perspective. Hazel is charming, adorable, and falls in love with Augustus. Both are suffering from cancer and these two have a romance that stands the test of time. Lots to discuss.
This book is not about Christmas but WWII from the German's perspective which I found really interesting. The Christmas trees in the title were bombs going off. This is a memoir and the author is still living, currently in Iowa. My favorites were the family stories and the recipes included. A really interesting story.
All of us loved this book and we had a very rich discussion about this novel. There was a lot to discuss around racism and forbidden love. I highly recommend for book clubs.
In the first pages of THE SISTER SEASON, we are confronted with scandal, drama and secrets. Your jaw will drop and you will want to keep reading to find out more about the Yancey family.
