My Reviews
My book group just started up again and this was our first book to get back into the swing of things. We found a lot to talk about with this book. The characters are memorable and bring up many questions. We each rated the book and it came out with an average of 4 stars.
This book moved very slowly. I got about a third of the way through it and not much had happened. Others in the group I was in enjoyed the book. It did get good discussion. It was too slow for me.
This is a good book for discussions. There are many good talking points with the various characters. Everyone in the book group enjoyed the book and it got a 4.5 rating from us.
Our book group enjoyed this book and it got us talking. I would have liked to hear more about CJs brother, Chase, too. An amazing family who I applaud for their support.
My book group enjoyed The Postmistress. It got the highest rating of any book we have read. The story is interesting and kept our attention. We highly recommend this book to other book groups.
Our book group enjoyed the book. We had a good discussion about the characters in the book. It was a good discussion about people and how life treats them.
This book is part of a UCC reading campaign so I read it in preparation for the September "One Read" program. The book is very readable and has poignant moments with the author's family and reading group. The United Church of Christ website does have a reading/discussion guide for groups to use. I found this book inspirational and I can't wait to discuss it with my reading group.
Our book group had a good discussion about the book. Then we talked about our favorite book and what that might say about us. It was a great way to get others in our church thinking about the books they love and sharing them with others. Our group rated the book a 4.5 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being high.
My church book group read this and it got a 4.25 average on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being high. We had a good discussion of the characters. We also discussed upbringing can influence who we are as an adult and yet each of us is different even if raised by the same parents. We would recommend this book to other groups.
Our book club rating was 4.25 on a scale of 1-5. We enjoyed the authors use of humor. Yoga and a swimsuit had us laughing!
Our book group read The Story of Beautiful Girl this month and had fun discussing the story. It hit close to home with several members. We always rate the book on a scale of 1-5 and this book rated 3.75. We had fun discussing the characters and their challenges throughout the book.
A good reminder that you should never judge a book, or a person, by the cover. We all agree that walking in nature is therapeutic to our lives. It is amazing how Harold interacts with people and just accepts them as they are and really listens to their stories.
This story was fun to read. While most people come and go at a hotel, the count in this story is sentenced to house arrest and must stay. He manages to keep busy and amused by children during his stay. This book has delightful characters, an easy to read style of writing, and a good plot. This is a fun read and good for discussion.
