One of our members couldn't get through the first part of the book and I kept telling her to get through it because it gets really good and interesting. I think it is a great book for a book club.

Enjoyable read but there were many british and french terms that brought me out of the story having to look at the footnotes provided in the book. Was a little distracting. It\\\'s a classic nonetheless.

Very quick and fun read. But if a book club is looking for something that is really thought-provoking this isn't the book they should choose.

Took me a little bit to get into it at the very beginning but then couldn't put it down til the very end!

Much of the story was very interesting but it was a bit confusing at times with the lengthy Spanish names that the writer sometimes to referred to the characters by the first name and other times the last name. And it abruptly switched back to the past at times and I was unsure of whether or not it was past or present time. I was glad I read it though.

Having lived all my life around the Seattle area I enjoyed this very much knowing all the places described. My brother rowed and also coached so it was interesting to learn more about it. Such a great story, hard to believe it is all true. A couple ladies in my book club didn\\\\\\\'t appreciate the book as much as I did.
