My Reviews
self-absorbed people, though talented
A thought-provoking story about moral choices and the realities of life. The whole club enjoyed it very much and we had a lengthy discussion about it.
While I enjoyed the writing and thought it was well written, I could not relate to the woman.
When I got halfway through it and they couldn't even put the old horse down humanely... I closed the book and gave it away.
Since I know many people with either some or all of the traits of the main characters, I found them amusing. Good story and well written, it was a quick read.
The subject is scary for parents, and many parts of the story were quite sad. But it is written well and you can surely relate throughout the story.
Really enjoyed this book. It was about real life situations - and love in many different ways. Definitely recommend.
We enjoyed some things about the book, perhaps have read too many historical novels about self-centered creative artists. We booked an evening at a local Paint with Wine business and enjoyed that experience as it married well with the book.
We found it difficult to get into but the second half was better. It brought up questions of love and friendship, but we were quite exasperated by the main character.
I loved this book and found I had to keep reading once engaged in the story. The main character was intriguing and relatable. I have lived through this 50s-60s era, and fought through it as we worked our way out of it. It was all about power and those who did not want to give it up. The society needed to change and it has. Though there are still pockets perpetuating these beliefs and behaviors...
