I\\\'m a \\\"slow\\\" reader - but this book was compelling and kept me interested, so it only took me 2 weeks to read where others in the club finished it in 2 sittings.
Many issues to discuss occur in the book - the most interesting I found was how people perceived the title.
There were several key phrases that caught my attention. I thought it interesting several main characters were never given proper names, but that also showed the importance they served to the title characters life.
It jumped around a lot. I didn't realize until our discussion that the author is more of a screen writer for tv shows.... made sense when I learned that.
Good to read if you have nothing else.
I joined a book club to encourage me to read more, I'm a slow reader and for years just didn't find it interesting. I've been in the club for 3 years and have changed my opinion - until this book. This is the kind of book that makes me not want to read books. Everyone keeps telling me it's "literary" - whatever that means. By no means am I a dumb person - but I just didn't see the point in this book.
