My Reviews
This book left me wondering what complexities cause the interpersonal relationships to occur just this way.
Some of this story was amazing - holding the reader captivated by the stories of two people whose lives intertwined. It is in the simple moments that this story becomes beautiful and in a clashing of facts that this story becomes an annoyance.
I found this book to be overly juvenile in nature compared to modern science fiction and fantasy geared towards young adults. Parts of the book were so abrupt that it was bothersome, other parts dragged. The book weaved between allegorical, religious fiction, and a child's story, should it have chosen one aspect, I believe the story would have been better, the reading smoother, and the book more meaningful.
I found the characters in this book to be one-sided, lacking the depth necessary to truly relate to them, but without a sense of parody that could have made that one-sidedness humorous. Because of this, they were annoying, frustrating, and an ultimate letdown.
The book was not necessarily one of entertainment and humor, but it also wasn't an epic or moral drama, therefore it was difficult to choose a mindset with which to read.
On a positive note, the writing and dialogue were quick and appealing. In summary: The words were fun to read, but the content, story, and characters were found lacking.
