My Reviews
While the World's Fair in Chicago was being set up, a serial killer was taking advantage of people coming in to Chicago.
Precious Ramotswe is not brilliant, but her common sense and large heart make her a woman to love and respect. This series is addictive and the 10th in the series has just been published. Read them all!
Made myself read this book - didn't like the beginning; thought it got better, then it got unbelievable. I think I hurt the author's feelings, but the book was pretty well written. The characters were just unlikeable.
I can't believe this was happening such a short time ago. Loved that Jane was appalled at the lack of common sense of the government. The characters in Ivy's family were very interesting. Everyone does not have a equal opportunity to succeed.
Wonderfully written book. All members felt they were in Sarajavo as they read the book.
Read this book twice to catch all the innuendos. We had the Author speak at our meeting, and learned quite a bit by getting some background.
It\\\'s hard to believe there are people living this way. The poverty, corruption and hopelessness are difficult to realize. Makes you fell so fortunate to live in the US, in spite of our problems.
Not bad - but not one I would recommend. Several gems about other famous people in that time frame, but just short of name-dropping.
This was one everyone in our Book Club loved! One of the best in encouraging discussion. Several members promised to start watching "The Big Bang Theory" after this meeting. Don IS Sheldon Cooper!
When I agreed to facilitate this book for our book club, I hadn't read any opinions on it. When I did read them, it seemed more of them were negative. I really liked this book and felt all the characters were fleshed out. I started to agree with those who thought the last part of the book was unnecessary or out of place. I thought it explained the relationship between the elder Whitshanks better than if it had come earlier in the book.
This has become one of my top ten favorite books. I love Fredrik Backman's writing - hope he comes out with another soon! We're doing Britt Marie Was Here at the next meeting.
This is more than one story going on in this book. All the characters have their own story.
rollicking adventures of a couple taking an alligator given as a wedding gift from a West Virginia coal mining town to Florida
