A somewhat convoluted story of a man who has a commitment to a fantasy life learned from his compelling past. It can be brutal and loving at different times. Getting into the minds of the North Koreans was a psychological puzzle with no solution.
The kind of book that poses questions...what would I have done. Can you ever undo a "wrong"? A family struggles with the impact of their decisions. Written well but at the end it seemed rushed and incomplete
A 1460's woman painter is conversing about her life to gallery visitors observing her painting ...a creative way to write but ultimately confusing. Another story is interwoven - that of a modern woman artist who wants to know more after seeing this painting.
