My Reviews
A different take on a \\\"victims\\\" ordeal.
I found this book to be a fast paced thriller but I would probably recommend reading the first two books to get some background on the characters history.
I believe this to be aimed for children but please don't let that put you off reading this novel. I found it a beautifully told story about a lonely young boy befriending the wonderful Lettie Hempstock. An uplifting fantasy novel that I could not put down.
This is a true account written by a woman who believed her Father responsible for the kidnap and murder of a girl who disappeared in the 1950's. The girl went missing in a small town in Scotland and the book centres around the authors recollection of that period and what lead her to believe her father's guilt. This is a deeply upsetting and dark novel and has stayed with me many months after reading.
I can take or leave Stephen King and prefer his earlier work to his later novels. Saying that I enjoyed this crime novel in what I would describe as an old fashioned pulp novel. The main character looks back at the summer when he was 21. The heart of the story focuses on the time he spent working at the carnival and the friendships that are formed there. He also learns that a young girl was murdered and her ghost has been been seen around the fairground and his preoccupation on this event. This is a nostalgic and reminiscent book primarily on youth and on first love and loss amongst many other strands that flow throughout the text.
