My Reviews
Nice light read for the summer.
We tried this book this year with out sophomore English students. They loved it! There were so many themes to discuss: family, a way to be good again, inherent evil, lasting consequences of choices, male/female roles, etc. The students focused on different things than my female book club, who also loved the book.
I found this one of the dullest books I've read. There wasn't much of a plot and the characters were not interesting.
This book is great as a discussion starter: making choices when neither choice is a good one, right vs. wrong, family loyalty, racial injustice, tolerance, etc.
Great Book
Interesting-We discussed the role of affluent women in that time.
Loved this book-wished there was a bit more detail at the end but couldn't put it down.
This is one of my favorite books of the summer.
Reads like fiction-covered areas of history that I was unaware of.
Have recommended this book numerous times and everyone who has read it loved it. It was the freshman read for Appalachian State University last year.
One of my all-time favorites!
Slow-a nice narrative but not terribly interesting
This was a great, quick read-perfect for vacation reading.
Interesting story
