My Reviews
This novel covers everything from illegal immigration to gay marriage and all things in-between. The story generated definite division between liking and disliking the book. Our club members were so apathetic that they didn't care to discuss the questions in the reader's guide. I still think it is worth a read by book clubs.
Written in true Nicholas Sparks fashion; the book grabs your attention. Emotionally you are drawn in and hope it ends in a fairy tale happy ending. The story line is somewhat predictable but remains high interest until the last few pages. It seems the author hurriedly contrived an implausible chain of events to finish up the book. I think it warrants a book club read and discussion.
Father Tim, a bachelor rector, resides in Mitford North Carolina. You will be drawn in to the delightful life of living in Mitford through Father Tim's experiences of companionship, caring, counseling, and love. Reading this book is like putting on your favorite pair of shoes...familiar, comfy, and warm.
The author elicits strong emotional responses from the reader to complex moral issues. This book was interesting and engaging from beginning to end. A good read without graphic details or paying homage to 'politically correct' subject matter. Truly refreshing.
