My Reviews
A light, fun book, but predictable & unrealistic without much depth or discussion to be had.
Very slow to start, but a supernatural, somewhat suspenseful story later on, with an inconclusive ending to discuss.
It was an easy to read book, but nothing I would reccommend.
A nice, easy read, but after reading the first couple of chapters, could've written the ending myself. Not much in it to discuss, but a happy ending, nicely written and a few good take-home messages for dealing with the death of a parent.
A great book, couldn't put it down. Really amazed at how cruel humankind can be; how another human's life could be valued as less because of skin color.
Each chapter was a new discovery, trying to figure out how each character fit into the grand scheme of the story. Very interesting to hear from all the different points of views & how one thing affects another.
A good book. Not as "supernatural" as I'd expected from an Anne Rice book. Very interesting story line & I kept reading, wanting to find out what was next.
Very easy to read book once you get past the intentional grammar mistakes made when reading the parts written in the second language learner\\\'s perspective. It was hard to put down, as I was so curious about what would happen next.
Loved reading a historical fiction. The only problem was the length, but it was a fast read. Learned about King Henry the 8th reign & what happened in that period.
Not the best for great discussion, since it is non-fiction, but an interesting read nonetheless. Couldn't wait to find out the cause of her madness. Like reading an episode of House.
It was a quick read & quite interesting. Loved the bee quotes that related to human behavior. Good story about the importance of mothers & women & how people are people, regardless of race.
Took awhile to get used to the way the author writes with limited use of grammar. Rather sad story, but an interesting read. I didn't want to stop reading it. It was insightful about the life of a Mennonite teenager coming of age & basically what that religion is like.
A good read...slow to start & slow at the end but the middle was fast & exciting!
Gave me insight into the importance of class 200 years ago. The universal concept of pride & love applies now as well as 200 years ago! Was a good read once I got past the wordiness of it!
Took me a bit to get into the book & though I liked it,it was ridiculous & all the fortunate things that happened at the last minute was a bit too much. Also not a lot of real good discussion to be had.
I couldn't put the book down. The artistic nature if the book was so beautiful & the two characters had me so interested in their stories that each time there was a character switch, I couldn't wait to get back to the other! Good story of love, loss & the process of dealing with grief.
Easy read but not that much substance to it for a book club book. Interesting to hear how people deal with difficult situations in their lives & how they stand by the ones they love for better or worse. A little predictable.
Left me guessing the whole time...couldn't put it down because I just wanted to figure it all out!
