My Reviews
This was a fun book. A quick and easy read that was welcomed after taking on some previously heavy book selections. The suggested activities on the last pages were a spring-board for one of our liveliest, most interactive meetings to date!
Our club really enjoyed this book and it was especially welcomed after some previously heavy book selections. We all felt we could relate to the characters and story line. There are some suggestions in the back of the book for activities and games that work off the theme of making a life-list of things to do. Not only did that go over well, but we were able to arrange a telephone conference with the author and had a ball discussing the book with her!
"The Shack" provided for interesting discussion but was not an overall favorite for the club.
This book ranked up there in our club's top favorites! History comes alive in this story and left us all wanting more. Our discussion was lively, hitting on topics of social structure, women's rights, and child-bearing. Hollywood missed the mark in the making of "The Other Boleyn Girl" - the book is so much better.
This was not a favorite read. Our club used the theme to talk about high school memories - we always have a good time regardless of the book!
"Love Walked In" is one of those quick reads that doesn't leave a lasting impression. Our group really didn't have much to share in discussion.
Our book club really enjoyed this book. The author did an impressive amount of research for this topic and while it is non-fiction, the writing style made for easy and exciting reading.
This is the second time I've asked the author, Jill Smolinski, to join my book club meeting and it was great fun once again! It worked out smoothly to have her join us via Skype. The book was entertaining and provided for good discussion.
