While I appreciated the insight that this book offers into the lives of the "downstairs" crew during the time Pride and Prejudice takes place, I did not like how the characters from the original story were portrayed at all. I felt like Mr. Bennett was completely wrong and very disappointing, and what little we see of Mr. Darcy in this book was off as well. Someone in my book club said that this probably would be how those characters appeared to their staff in "their world", and while I do agree, I don't like seeing that side of these famous literary characters.
