My Reviews
I started reading this book and realized I was going to need more than one copy to share with friends and family.
The question is "What is a Christian?" The answer seems today to be a Right-Wing Republican Conservative. But the beliefs those people hold to be "truths" are so far from the way of Jesus that they are more like those of the Pharisees of the Bible. It's so unfair that those people have really stolen Jesus from those who really follow his teachings; and closed minded followers of "Christianity" have so little love for others who are different from them.
This book shows how the fundamentalist mindset has kept people away from real Christianity.
So sad. I had read "The Kite Runner" first(which was an excellent book), but identified more with this one since it was from the perspective of women.
It will make you furious at the way women are treated; but you have to admire them for their fortitude and courage. Makes you feel so fortunate to be here - and not there.
